C section is Birth too. . . . .

A C-section does not have to feel like a “lesser” or “unnatural” birth experience. By focusing on what matters most to you—whether that’s having your partner by your side, connecting with your baby immediately, or creating a calm and peaceful environment—you can make the experience as close to your ideal as possible. Remember, your birth is yours, and whatever path it takes, it’s important, valid, and beautiful.

Some hospitals offer a “gentle C-section,” which is a technique designed to make the surgery feel more like a vaginal birth. While not all hospitals may be equipped for this, it’s worth inquiring about the following options:

  • Delayed Cord Clamping: Request delayed cord clamping, which allows for more blood to flow from the placenta to the baby. This can have numerous health benefits, including better iron levels and blood volume for your baby.

  • Lowering the Drapes for Baby’s Birth: Instead of the traditional curtain that blocks the view during a C-section, you may be able to request that the drape be lowered at the moment of birth so you can witness your baby being pulled out. Some hospitals will lower the drape for a moment to let you see your baby’s arrival.

  • Gentle Delivery: Some gentle C-sections involve techniques like a slower delivery, where the doctor takes extra care to ensure the baby emerges gently, as well as immediate skin-to-skin contact once the baby is stable.

As a doula, I’m here to support you in every step of the way—whether that’s advocating for your preferences during a C-section or helping you process the experience afterward. You are strong, and your journey is sacred.

💜 Your Birth

  • I will meet you at the hospital. (If you go into labour before your scheduled c section, I will come right away, I do have an hour drive so will need you to reach out and keep communication open.)

  • I will keep you informed and involved.

  • I make sure you stay nourished and hydrated.

  • I make sure you feel heard and help understand what is going on within your body and around you.

  • I hold space so you feel safe and to feel your emotions. And will advocate for you when you feel unable to speak up.

  • I stay for hour or two after you get back to your room and will not leave till you are settled and feel okay with it all. If you are feeling unsure, I will happily stay longer. I want to give you the space to bond with your baby, while making sure you feel very well taken care of.

  • I am happy to help you with breast feeding in the golden hour as well.

💜 A Postpartum Visit

  • This is a great chance to talk over the birth. In the midst of it all there wil be detail you miss and discussing it afte can be very rewarding and help you understand it all.

  • I answer your postpartum queations and help you with any baby care you feel you would like some education on.

  • Can help you with any breastfeeding questions and latching baby correctly.

  • Again this is aprox 1 hour. And happens at your home.

Your investment $1000. There is less chance of being on call and more chance of going in at a scheduled time. Thus the price is lower than with a vaginal birth.

***I do work on a sliding scale. If you would like a birth doula and you have no insurance, PLEASE REACH OUT, there are options. I do offer a sliding scale because it matters to me that those who want a doula, get a doula.***

Your private insurance may cover the fee. 💜

Can be made into 3 Payments. The first payment is non refundable. All three payments need to be made by week 36. Unless of course you are just reaching out at week 39 and I will need the full payment right away.

If this is the direction you feel is best for you and your labour and delivery I will be So excited and honoured that you trust me enough to be part of your birth. I realize this is a very vulnerable time. You may purchase the Birth Package in full by clicking the link.

If you would like to make three separate payments, Please message or call me at 807-276-9042, email me at lynette@homegrownfamilydoula.com and we can arrange for payments to be made by via etransfer.
